SYDNEY – Electro Optic Systems Holdings Ltd (ASX:EOS) said on Wednesday it will acquire the interceptor drone business of Britain’s MARSS Group for an initial investment of €5.5 million (A$10 million), expanding its counter-drone portfolio.
The deal brings into EOS’ portfolio a compact, AI-guided interceptor system capable of speeds up to 290 km/h and ranges of 5 km, designed to defeat agile drone threats with low collateral damage.
EOS said the technology, which can integrate with its remote weapon systems and high-energy laser platforms, is expected to undergo 12 to 24 months of further development before commercial launch.
The Canberra-based defence and space technology company plans to invest up to an additional A$10 million over three years, potentially supported by customer funding. EOS will also employ the MARSS engineering team behind the interceptor.
Chief Executive Andreas Schwer said the acquisition strengthens EOS’ position as a leading counter-drone capability provider and extends its footprint into the UK, a key AUKUS partner market.
EOS said the transaction will be funded from existing cash reserves and is not expected to materially affect near-term financial results. Completion is subject to customary approvals.
