Oxford Metrics plc has acquired Move AI Ltd
LONDON: Oxford Metrics plc (LSE: OMG), the smart sensing and measurement technology group, has acquired the assets of Move AI Ltd, a London-based developer of AI-powered technology for capturing and digitising human movement.
The acquisition is intended to accelerate Vicon’s markerless motion capture strategy by broadening its technology, customer reach and range of applications. Move AI’s technology, intellectual property, patents, specialist team and customers will transfer to Vicon, the Group’s motion capture division, as part of the transaction.
Move AI combines artificial intelligence, computer vision and an understanding of human biomechanics to convert video into detailed 3D motion data without the need for markers or specialist suits.
Following significant investment in product development, it has developed technology that spans single-camera tools for individual creators through to professional multi-camera and real-time systems, including its flagship Genesis platform.
It enables capture inside and outside the studio, from individual performances to multiple people moving across spaces as large as a football pitch.
The Acquisition is expected to be highly complementary to Vicon and enhances its existing capabilities. Combining Move AI’s technology with Vicon’s measurement expertise and global customer relationships is expected to accelerate product development and make sophisticated motion capture accessible to a broader range of users.
The Board also believe it is complementary to the wider Group’s offering in entertainment and content creation by increasing opportunities for wider applications in sport, biomechanics and human performance analysis.
The acquisition follows Vicon’s acquisition of Captive Devices in September 2026, which added markerless facial capture to its existing body-tracking capabilities.
Move AI further broadens Vicon’s markerless toolset through complementary single-camera and large-volume capture technologies, creating a more comprehensive end-to-end solution across facial, body and full-environment motion capture.
Together with Move AI these capabilities strengthen Vicon’s position in next-generation motion capture and provide customers with greater flexibility to combine markerless workflows with its industry-leading optical systems.
Consideration for the Acquisition is £525,000 in cash (c.£725,000 inclusive of immediate transaction expenses). Move.ai reported unaudited revenue of £1.1 million in the year ended 31 December 2025 and gross margin in line with Vicon’s strong levels.
Gary Bullard, Non-Executive Chair and Interim CEO of Oxford Metrics, commented: “This acquisition is closely aligned with our strategy to broaden Vicon’s markerless capabilities while maintaining its leadership in optical motion capture. Through our own technology development and recent acquisitions, Vicon has built a comprehensive toolset spanning marker-based and markerless motion capture. Move AI further strengthens that offering, enabling us to address a wider range of customer applications, introduce additional capabilities across our combined customer base and create opportunities in new markets.”
