Pet Service Holding acquires bankrupt Dutch pet product firm RHR Concepts

AMSTERDAM: Pet Service Holding NV has acquired the business operations of Dutch company RHR Concepts B.V. through an asset transaction, the company announced Monday, adding a portfolio of cat product brands and e-commerce platforms with historical annual revenue exceeding €7 million.

The acquisition includes RHR Cat Trees, Dierenvilla.nl and RHRPets.nl, along with an international domain name portfolio and substantial inventory. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquired business generated revenue growth from approximately €4.8 million in 2022 to €6.8 million in 2023 and €7.33 million in 2024, with gross margins of 63.2%, 56.8% and 62.0%, respectively. The company posted positive net profits in both 2022 and 2023.

Despite the commercial performance, RHR Concepts filed for bankruptcy following a rapidly increasing cost base driven by insufficient control over sales and marketing expenditure, higher freight costs, marketplace fees, payment processing costs and packaging expenses.

“With this acquisition, we are adding not only strong brands but also a proven revenue platform that perfectly complements our existing portfolio,” Ron van Veldhoven, CEO of Pet Service Holding, said in a statement. “By integrating these activities into our organisation, we expect to realise significant synergies, further economies of scale and a structural improvement in profitability. This acquisition is fully aligned with our buy-and-build strategy aimed at creating long-term shareholder value.”

Pet Service Holding expects significant synergies in procurement, logistics, marketing and e-commerce by integrating the operations into its existing structure. The acquisition will also strengthen the company’s position in the premium product segment, where it operates through its Petlux brand, acquired in summer 2025.

The acquired activities will be integrated effective in the second half of 2026 and are expected to contribute to group revenue during that period. Following the transaction, companies within the group represent an estimated combined annual revenue of more than €20 million.

The acquisition was fully financed from existing cash resources.

Pet Service Holding is a player in the Dutch pet care sector, focusing on pet supplies, nutrition and products for veterinary practices. The company trades on Euronext Growth Paris under the ticker ALPET.
