NEW YORK: Wolters Kluwer, a Dutch information services giant, announced an expanded enterprise collaboration with OpenAI on Wednesday, aiming to embed the AI company’s latest models into software used by professionals in health care, law and accounting.
The multiyear agreement gives Wolters Kluwer access to OpenAI’s newest application programming interfaces and platform capabilities, which the company will deploy through its existing secure, model-agnostic generative AI platform known as FAB. The partnership is designed to develop what Wolters Kluwer calls “Expert AI” — specialized tools for regulated, high-stakes fields where accuracy and governance are critical.
“This collaboration accelerates our Expert AI vision – bringing trusted AI to the professional workflows of clinicians, lawyers, accountants, and other experts, who rely on Wolters Kluwer in high-stakes environments,” Alex Tyrrell, senior vice president and head of advanced technology at Wolters Kluwer, said in a statement.
The company has already begun rolling out AI-powered features built on OpenAI models. In health care, UpToDate Expert AI — a generative version of Wolters Kluwer’s evidence-based clinical reference tool — is designed with a multi-layer expert review process to maintain traceability and reduce search time. As of April 30, more than half of U.S. enterprise edition customers, representing about 2,000 hospitals, have signed up for the Expert AI version, with the company projecting 70% adoption by midyear.
In tax and accounting, the company’s CCH Axcess software now uses agentic AI to automate client data collection, document classification and other manual preparation steps. Wolters Kluwer said the tools have reduced manual tasks by 20% to 30%, freeing professionals for higher-value advisory work.
“AI is becoming a critical operating layer for enterprise and we are thrilled to be working with Wolters Kluwer,” said Ashley Kramer, vice president of enterprise at OpenAI. “This agreement enables advanced AI capabilities to be applied in professional environments where accuracy, governance, and trust are paramount.”
Wolters Kluwer, which reported 2025 annual revenue of €6.1 billion, employs about 21,100 people and operates in more than 40 countries. The company’s shares trade on Euronext Amsterdam under the symbol WKL.
