AMSTERDAM: Kyivstar, the Ukrainian subsidiary of VEON Ltd., a global digital operator, announced on Wednesday that it is restoring connectivity on its networks after a massive cyber-attack on Tuesday. The attack caused a service outage that affected millions of customers.
The company said that more than 90% of its mobile base stations are now operational, voice services are available across the country, and data connectivity on the fixed network is active. It also started to re-activate mobile data connectivity, beginning with Ivano-Frankivsk in Western Ukraine.
Kyivstar is working to avoid network congestion and stabilize operations as it restores other services. It is also informing its customers on service restoration on its social media channels. The financial impact of the attack is still unknown.
VEON and Kyivstar thanked the Ukrainian authorities and agencies for their help in addressing the attack and restoring services. They also expressed their gratitude to their customers, clients, partners and colleagues for their support. They reaffirmed their commitment to keeping Ukraine connected and resilient.
