Statkraft CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen to step down after 14 years

OSLO, NORWAY: Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, the President and CEO of Statkraft AS, has announced his decision to resign from his position after leading the company for nearly 14 years. Statkraft AS is Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy and a global player in the energy markets.

The Board of Directors will start a process to find a successor for Rynning-Tønnesen, who will stay in his role until further notice.

Thorhild Widvey, the Chair of the Board of Statkraft AS, expressed her gratitude to Rynning-Tønnesen for his leadership and contributions to Statkraft. She said that Statkraft had a strong platform for continued growth, both operationally and financially.

Rynning-Tønnesen became the President and CEO of Statkraft in 2010. Under his tenure, the company delivered an average annual return after tax of 26 percent, including dividend to owner. Statkraft is today one of Norway’s largest companies with an enterprise value of more than 300 billion Norwegian kroner.

Statkraft operates in 21 countries, with a focus on Norway and Europe, as well as activities in Brazil, Chile, Peru, India and the US. The company develops and produces renewable hydro-, wind-, and solar power, and is an important partner to Norwegian and international industry. Statkraft has a leading international analysis and markets department and develops new renewable technologies, such as hydrogen and biofuel.
